Just added a new Supro Island Series Westbury with remake 'vintage' Gold foil pickups. Pickups are single coils, but almost no hum, not P90 tone, not strat or tele single coil tone. but something else. Sort of a fat Strat tone, but not really that either. They get dirty smooth, more like humbuckers, but with that stratish tone.Nice satin neck that is super smooth and fast, thick D profile. Immaculate finish, as much Flame as I personally like, great construction, good parts except the cheap knobs. Plays very nice, sounds great and unique.

That Supro is a real beauty! I like the that it has a little flame, but not too much, and I love the tobacco-burst. I'm also a big of the reissue Supro amps too. My guitarist plays a Coronado exclusively now.
I'm curious about what's under those gold foil covers, if they use rubber magnets like the original 60's Teisco gold foils. Those are some of my favorite single-coil pickups.

That really is beautiful, Cyber.
Looks like it belongs in some sort of museum.

me likes...
they kinda look like some sort of FilterTron pickups.
can it play some twangy Rockabilly? -
They're gold foils ...
I use them a lot ..my faves are from Mojo in the UK -

They aren't really like any of those. TVJ Classics come close, and my Deluxe Roadhouse strat on one of it's 5 preamp settings comes close.
Complex and full low end, High end sparkle, but not shrill, ever.

Wow Harry, Folreden! Infected by Bert? How do the pu's sound like?

At the moment, I am a little bit confused with the function of the switches and the small potis above the PU's.
The first steps with my clean and crunchy profiles are already very promising. The tone is very transparent and stands clear on my finger and it appears to me more round but allows even more dirtyness without stratitis than my strat with Häussel-PU.
Bert is not really an example for me - he's too far from me. With him, probably the cheapest china guitar would sound very good.
I was curious about the Jazzmaster (never played one before) and these pickups.
I am a single coil fan, but wanted to try a slightly more fat sound.
At the moment I do not understand why this guitar is called jazzmaster - it's a very solide rock guitar.BTW: The really truth was - there was to much rest in the wisky bottle which I wanted to recycle and I was fallen in love with the picture.

Try playing finger style a la Knopfler. Might be hard getting used to, but I have a feeling those pups will respond really well. -
Just picked up a Reverend Sensei 290 for a great price. I was looking for a guitar with P90's and this one sounds awesome.

Hey ajmxbend, I was actually thinking about picking up one of those Reverends...either that or a Godin. Tell me the things that you do NOT like about it.

Funny you ask because I was deciding between a Godin and a Reverend too when I bought the Sensei. I picked the Reverend because it was such a great deal I couldn't pass it up.
As to your question, I've only had it a couple weeks but so far the only annoyance were the rattling screws in the bridge. I solved this by putting clear nail polish on the screws, letting it dry, loosing and tightening the screws to get the thread mixed with the dried polish, then finally re-adjusting intonation.
Were I live there isn't access to any guitar store with different brands to try so when I go to Chicago in a couple months I was going to check out guitars at the Chicago Music Exchange, including Godin's. Anyone live in Chicago who could point out any good guitar shops to check out?

ajmxbend..maken' music and Chicago Music Exchange...if you go to Chicago Music Exchange park around back to avoid parking meters (or in my case the $50 ticket)...it was the best guitar store I have ever been to....solid wall of Les Pauls, 8-10 Duesenbergs, Fender CS in good numbers...private amp rooms with doors so you can crank them up...a huge acoustic room...
