Axe Fx creator's thoughts on how Kemper works.
Seems iffy to me but what do I know?
7 base models eh? "In fact you can open a .kipr file and see the IR data in there. It's encrypted but it's clearly there." I wonder how much time he's spent trying to figure out why it sounds so good?
I guess only the Kemper team can answer this one ....if they decide to
Sounds plausible. To be honest though, who of us actually cares how it works, as long as it does?

I totally agree!! I love the ease of use with the Kemper, and it works like an amp rather a computer.. I guess the dely will be more my style on the Line6, but I realy like the 7-8 basic sounds that i use live, dont care if the base is a 65 amp, Fender, my Koch Multitone ora a Mesa!!! as long as the sound is the way i like!!
Assuming that's all correct, it sounds like Kemper arrived at an elegant solution.
this guy is so in the dark but admittedly his assumptions and conclusions are kind of entertaining.

I must say I don't care how it works or what the magic position is that they stick in it and to be honest I don't even look at other gear on the market. The Kemper works and that's that. If it ran off Rice Krispies i wouldn't care
In short, statements like that are made to put off potential buyers..... When you're comparing a spec sheet, a number sounds good and if you can say 'only 7' then it makes the unit look bad on paper.
Anyone who actually tries a Kemper very soon stops caring about how it's actually done - I really wouldn't care if there was a genetically modified hamster in there who can fart 'God Save the Queen' in between takes. If this thing sounds as good as it does with minimal tweaking and without the valve issue of having to crank it to ear-bleeding levels at home then why would anyone say anything other than 'good job' to Kemper?
Apart from a competitor of course

If anybody cares to read the patent and see if they can make sense of it, feel free
Although - if it sounds good, it is good
Made up "facts" from Cliff Chase about other gear is becoming an annual predictable funny parody.
Imagine the Marshall CEO always talking crap about Fender amps. How silly and unprofessional it would be. Is Cliff's weird behaviour caused by having lack of confidence in his own product, feeling insecure?
In 2011 before the Kemper was released he made it clear that the Kemper would be inferior, making sure potential buyers should doubt it.
He must have failed business ethics class because he thinks his frequent use of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) is ok.
Many companies get into legal troubles doing so. FUD info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_uncertainty_and_doubt
He posts on thegearpage that his kemper is not working properly, how the unique profiling technology and patent is old and simple technology, frequently posting how it's inferior to the axe fx. Cliff got so many complaints on tgp and (Scott too for protecting him) he no longer posts the FUD bashing there, only on his own forum.
Here Cliff makes up an amazing "fact" discovery about the kemper (proven false), that nobody is allowed to mention or talk about on thegearpage, they will be suspended.
2013 jan 7. "Any Kemper users here" Post 44, page 3.
Cliff quote: "Kemper's dirty little secret is that internally it only runs at 22.05 kHz."
The original FAS thread is deleted http://forum.fractalaudio.com/lounge/62331-a…ers-here-3.html
Two threads about his false fact claim quote.
no frequency content above 11kHz?
LOL, this is below LOW... even for Cliff
He seems delusional and paranoid thinking that users on gear forums that prefer other products and sell their axe fx are company plants and not real users.
Here he believes his company is under attack, paranoia?
New NAMM product? This sounds insane.
Many find it hard to take the guy seriously when his weird behaviour is causing bad PR for his own company and many hope he would spend full time developing great gear instead of posting FUD on forums.
Here is a link to a very funny satire article that shows what is going on on the Fractal forum and The Gear Page. Lots of humor but it
describes what's going on very well and it's sad that the biggest digital amp forum is not managed by other people without any company agenda or affiliations.

I could care less, personally. Does the Kemper do what it claims to do? Yes. That's all that matters. I don't care about specs, how it's done, any of that - I care about how it sounds.

He should spend more time actually trying to make his product do what he claims ie "mimicking" the amp its modelling
People take this word for word, yet the amps get revised again and again
This was marketing garbage like "oh the kemper only takes a snap shot while the axe-fx models the EQ/Gain etc" .....BS!!! At least for the amps I've compared it to.
I'd be interested if the Kemper is supposed to be so inferior why I have no desire to use the axe-fx now.....I'm sure not having updates destroy my sounds every time is a huge reason
Not to mention absolutely useless cluttered pages & pages of menus filled with garbage like "motor drive" ....I'm sure Van Halen/Led Zep and the like couldn't have made their albums with out some "motor drive" ROFL
Let's not start another Axe bashing thread, now. There are just as many Fractal users that are thoroughly satisfied with their machine as there are Kemper users that are with theirs (if not more!).

I love the comment saying, wow, i wonder why no one gets kempers sound quality given how insanely simple it is.
I also think its hilarious cliff wont explain gain matching because he has a patent pending that uses it! Wtf does that even mean? He wants a patent on existing technology his competitors supposedly use which he describes as simple.
Like people say - does it matter? - I am a musician not an audio engineer. If it sounds good, it sounds good.
I know that a lot of people don't like the way Cliff goes about making comments about other products. But he clearly has confidence in his ability as a product designer and audio engineer. He has spent hours designing and programming the axe line of products and is protective about them. If he appears to undermine other products, directly or indirectly....well.. so what? That is his prerogative. We decide what to buy and he has a right to think his product is the best. Just like musicians think their bands are the best and trash talk each other in Rolling Stone magazine or whatever.
Ultimately, people like Cliff (and Christoph) are pushing the boundaries of guitar modelling products and giving the industry the kick in the backside it needs. The competition between these two (and the rest of the industry that is just waking up to high quality modellers - Line 6 ahem) is good for us as guitarists.
