• I just want to let everyone know that my annual Black Friday Etc. Sale just started and use coupon code THANKS2024 to get 40% anything on my site, including the brand new 3rd Power Dragon Pack, featuring the amp that 3rd Power built for Joe Satriani for the "Best of Both Worlds" tour. This is another co-venture with 3P, thus the slightly higher price as I'm splitting the proceeds with 3rd Power.

My web guy is working on it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully it will be up and running soon. This is why I didn't wait until Friday. Ha

Just snagged it! Sadly I am on vacation but plan to load them up when I get back. That tone sounded pretty tasty….

  • I know how well regarded MBritt is as the best profile maker out there. But for me the sounds always lack some openness in the high frequencies. Maybe this could be me not understanding what cuts right in a mix, but I seem to always dial up the Presence and Treble and Definition a lot or wanna change cabs on Britt profiles. That is when I play them through Headphones or Monitors. Through my Kone on the other hand, using Imprints, they sound great to me.

Sorry if I'm controversial and I'm very open to what you guys think about this.

I very much like that approach lonestargtr , they should have their fair portion of such revenue to make sure the development of such amps keeps getting support :thumbup:8)

Would there be a chance though to share a small handful of those profiles with the Kemper community here as an appetizer for us, Michael? I'm sure that would help me and some others here to decide if the Dragon is the right toy to chose. Thanks for consideration, fine with both answers :)

You are not the only one.

  • Question Michael ,

Ever think of doing a mic preamp pack for KPA with e.g.- Neve, Chandler , API etc...?

I'd imagine a lot of people would be interested in one for home recording use and such ....

    Nice idea 👍

Bert Meulendijk did an acoustic pack which is basically a pack of preamp profiles with settings tailored to acoustics. I believe it sells well. Another pack along this line with alternative settings or a pack with more diverse settings for Vocal, Drums etc would probably sell, especially with the legendary M Britt mojo.

I was thinking of vocal preamps really but I guess a preamp is a preamp is a preamp

The BM acoustic pack includes channel strips from some vintage mixing desks so definitely something that would work on vox but the eq etc are optimised for acoustic guitar in that pack. Another MBritt pack with nice preamps either without EQ (just capturing the the saturation/character of the pre being driven) would probably sell some copies. I wonder how a Liquid profile of a 1073 or API being slammed would clean up with the gain knob in the KPA. Although there are no tonestacks in the KPA for these types of Pres and Channel Strips, in theory a liquid profile should give you access to the full range of the preamp’s character.

Hi Michael, I was browsing your site recently and noticed that you no longer seem to have the Gramatico pack available. Surely that is some mistake =O Although your 69 Marshall is my go to rig that Gramatico is EPIC. I use amp drive 99.999999% of the time rather than pedals but this week I was practicing some stuff with a lot of quick changes between clean and dirty tones. Rather than set up a performance for practicing I just loaded on of the Gramatico cleaner rigs and stuck a Kemper Drive in front which I could toggle on/off as necessary. Damn! What a killer tone. I haven't been able to stop playing with it for nearly a week. That pack should be flying off the shelves on your store.

I thought the same originally, but if you read his instructions, you will find that they are very tweak-able and you can get them to open up more.

Tweaking – Feel free to tweak these profiles to fit what you want to hear just as you would a traditional amp. I strive to keep my EQ section as flat as possible so it gives the user plenty of room to adjust as necessary. I find the Definition control extremely useful in dialing in profiles as it can sweep the focus of the overall eq without having to grab the eq knobs. I often start there. If you find the profile “dull”, start by turning up the Definition. If you find it harsh, try turning the Definition down until it smooths out. For single coil strat pickups, I generally like the

Definition between 4-5, for Teles around 5, for P90s between 5-6, and humbuckers between 6-7 as a starting place, but don’t feel limited to those settings. The Power Sagging, Compressor, Clarity control and the speaker Character control can all be helpful as well. Some profiles may require more tweaking than others in getting “your” sound out them.
